Submission Guideline

 Submission Guideline

1.  Taiwan Journal of East Asian Studies (TJEAS), an academic publication, starts its first publication in June 2004. The objective aims at reexamine the relation between the “traditional” and “contemporary” under the perspective of East Asia, and with classics as principal subject, humanities and social science as research context.. Furthermore, it studies the content and development of civilization as well as culture from an overall view in East Asia, in order to establish a dialogue between the 21st century civilization and other civilizations. This biannual publication is open to public, and we welcome papers from diverse specialization.

2.  The publication focuses mainly on research thesis, with supplementary research discussion, commentary, book review, and other related discourse. We accept papers written in Chinese and English.

Kindly follow the “Submission Format” of the publication:

(1) 10,000 to 20,000 words for thesis written in Chinese. 
(2) 15 to 25 pages for thesis written in English. Translated papers should only from academic publication, and should be enclosed with footnotes and analyzed discussion. For other kinds of papers: Chinese and Japanese version should below 10,000 words; whereas below 10 pages for English version. (Including footnote, annotation, and reference).

3.  The typesetting should be in Big-5 or Unicode in traditional characters, instead of simplified characters. In case of missing character, please refer to www.cns11643.gov.tw.

4.   Articles may be submitted for publication in  Taiwan Journal of East Asian Studies  at any time. All submissions must pass a preliminary review by the Editorial Board before being sent to scholars in relevant fields for double-blind review. The Editorial Board will make final decisions about publishing submissions based on the results of the peer review process. All authors will be notified once a decision has been reached.

5.  Kindly enclose papers with title, abstract (within 300 words), keywords (within 7 words); actual name of authorship, brief introduction (function and designation), and contact information (address, contact number, fax or e-mail address).

6.  Please avoid multiple submissions. If the article has been published in other languages or forms, an authorized approval should be acquired with indication. Also, kindly acquire related approval in the case concerning the copyright of third party (like graphs or citation). All authors are liable for plagiarism and copyright infringement. The TJEAS shall not be responsible in any circumstances.

7.  Submissions are not returnable if without notice of acceptance. For successful applicants, full text will be published both in TJEAS publication and electronic journal. Particular applicants will receive two copies of the recent publication with no additional remuneration.

8.  All published articles reserve the copyrights, and are eligible to be republished on website, and database authorized by National Taiwan Normal University. Any duplication or translation of the articles in whatsoever form must obtain approval from TJEAS prior to publication.
