Master program

The Department of East Asian Studies at NTNU has undergraduate program (B.A.) and Master program (M.A.). There are two different tracks in each program: the sinology and culture track and the politics and economics track. Applicants interested in International Sinology and East Asian Culture Studies are advised to apply for the Sinology and Culture track. Applicants interested in the politics, economics and regional studies for East Asian are advised to apply for the Politics and Economics track.

Credits Requirement for Graduation

Complete 30 credits as following:

(1) Required courses: 12 credits

(2) Selective courses: 18 credits (6 free credits included)

 ( Sinology and Culture / Politics and Economics)


Admission Evaluation

Document Review and Interview

(either in person or by video-conferencing)

Language Proficiency Requirements for

Choose one among below

Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL, Level 4 ),

Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK, Level 5),

or any other equivalent Chinese proficiency certificate


Semester of Admission

Both fall-term and spring-term are available.
